We're so excited to introduce you to Tiffany, the beating heart and soul behind Pet And Home Care, one of Maryland's most beloved and trusted pet care businesses! Always a huge fan of spending time with animals, Tiffany began walking dogs in high school as a way to earn a little extra money, but that quickly blossomed into a full-blown career after witnessing the trust her clients had in her care for their furry family members. Through great passion, determination, and some help from word-of-mouth referrals, Tiffany's client list had grown to the point that she was ready to hire her first team member by 2002.

Since then, Pet And Home Care has continued to enjoy great success and has expanded beyond their In-Home services into the fields of grooming and pet nutrition, utilizing their own Whole-Pet Approach to provide loving, professional, and compassionate care to pets in Montgomery and Frederick counties. No matter how much they may grow, though, Tiffany and her team have always kept their number one priority on the most important aspect of what they do — the relationships between themselves, their clients, and their pets. What caused you to get into pet sitting/dog walking?

I’ve always had a deep love for animals and a natural instinct for caregiving. What started as helping neighbors and friends with their pets quickly grew into something bigger when I realized how much trust people placed in me to care for their furry family members. I wanted to create a business that gave pet parents peace of mind — knowing their pets were in safe, loving, professional hands. That passion for animals, combined with my drive to build something meaningful, led to the creation of Pet and Home Care and now our expansion into grooming and pet nutrition, our Whole-Pet Approach!

What is the most fulfilling part of owning a pet sitting/dog walking business?

The most rewarding part is the relationships — both with our clients and their pets, and with our amazing team. Seeing our staff grow in their roles, feeling proud of the care they provide, and hearing clients say they can truly relax because they trust us — that’s everything. There’s also an incredible sense of purpose in knowing we help keep pets happy, healthy, and loved every single day.

What is the most challenging?

The biggest challenge is balancing the heart of the business — compassionate pet care — with the operational side. Scheduling, staffing, and maintaining consistency across hundreds of clients and over 50 employees can be complex. It takes constant communication, organization, and adaptability. But I’ve learned that strong systems and clear expectations can turn even the most stressful challenges into opportunities to improve.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

In five years, I see PHC continuing to grow sustainably while keeping our personalized, family-oriented feel. We’ll likely expand our in-home services to cover more of the Washington Metropolitan areas, strengthen our training and career development programs for staff, and deepen our community partnerships. I also envision more technology integrations and streamlined operations that allow our managers and caregivers to focus more on what really matters — the pets and the people behind them. We are also building our e-commerce platform to ensure we can get healthy pet food options into more homes.

What has Time To Pet changed the most about how you run your business?

Time To Pet (TTP) has completely transformed how we manage communication and accountability. Before TTP, coordinating schedules, updates, and client notes took a lot of manual work. Now, everything is centralized — from scheduling and invoicing to visit reports and client communication. It’s improved transparency across the board and helped us scale without losing our personal touch. It also gives our managers the tools to monitor quality and quickly address any client or staff needs and even simplify our billing and payroll.
